How does the confrontation between humanitarian and traditional approaches to disarmament reshape the discourses, practices and representations that make possible the regulation of algorithmic weapons?
To this end, this project has three main objectives: (1) to understand why certain conceptions of disarmament manage to gain traction by situating the production of power within the disarmament ecosystem; (2) to provide empirical insights into the transnational governance of algorithmic weapons, based on rigorous data collection grounded in the experiences of activists and disarmament stakeholders; and (3) to examine how political science conceptualises disarmament as a doctrine and a political objective.
